Today I turn the big 28. Well its not too big, but it’s big enough to bring with it middle of the night nightmares of having babies and been shackled to the floor. Wonder what all of that means. But what I can tell you is that this is the first birthday I have ever had where I didn’t want it to happen. Maybe it’s the fact that I’ve hit the “late 20’s” or that Im only 2 years to 30 and still not really achieved what I thought I would by 28 or that I thought that I would have a little more time to “run amok” as my best friend would say. Alas, 28 is here and Im slightly freaking out.

It’s not all bad though. I love birthday’s as its the one day in the year, I don’t have to share with anyone. It’s a day just for me. When I spend most other days running around after other people and making sure that everyone else is happy, its nice to be able to just sit back and have those that care about you spoil you for a change.

And today was just that. Whilst I still had to get up for work, i did allow myself the tinyest of sleepins. Then I got to work to find balloons and confetti covereing my desk. At lunch I was treated to lunch by the girls at work, then it was time for cake, not before flowers arrived at the office from my family back home.

And now, whilst the work day is almost over, my night is just beginning with a dinner with my favourite people – and those of you who are not in Melbourne, but still my favourites, I know you will be there in spirit.
