The thing I didn’t really want to happen, has happened. It took its time, but here it is, casting a grey cloud over my day (although that could actually just be the weather). Homesickness has made itself known and I don’t like it. I’m craving salt air and a place I haven’t called home in 6 years. Even images of the Australian outback are causing me grief and If you know me, that does’t quite compute. Me + dust + super hot days does not equal a happy Victoria. So Im finding all this very strange. But I have been told that these weeks (4 and 5) are the hardest but that I’ll get there. So Im throwing myself into work, and into my favourite things (like taking long walks, being a tourist and fashion).

Yup, its also that time… Fashion week central! Currently New York is showing and I have become enamored with Ellery’s new collection (those shoes!) and A gorgeous, to-die-for gown by Jenny Packham. What Im most looking forward (and Im hoping it knocks the homesickness for six) is London Fashion Weekend. A day of parades, shopping and fun!

So here is to hoping that tomorrow, I wake up and the mental clouds aren’t hanging around. Homesickness can go jump in a lake.

New York Fashion Week is one of the (many) fashion weeks I tend to pay the most attention to. I think because the fashions, the styles and the designers are more in tune with an aesthetic that would fit in well with the Australian style. Not to mention that I’m a big fan of the designers.

One designer I haven’t really paid attention to in the past is Jill Stuart. I was pleasantly suprised when I flicked onto the slide show on Style.com and saw a confection of pretty pastels and summery fabrics. It’s totally put me in the mood for summer. Here are a couple of my favourite pieces:

Breathtaking. Utterly breathtaking.
The gowns that Marchesa showed at the Chelsea Art Museum were so beautiful that I wish Saturday nights involved putting on a beautiful dress, getting all dolled up and dancing until dawn. In fact some of these gowns seemed to take inspiration from golden days gone by.

I’ve been a fan of Diane von Furstenberg for a while now and every season, her designs always end up resonating well with me. Although I tend to have a muted colour palate in my own wardrobe, I end up promising myself everytime I see a new DVF collection that I will add in at least SOME colour throughout the coming season. This time around is no different.

There were too many pieces in her S/S 11 collection that I loved, but I narrowed it down to this one. The colour, the pattern, the styling, all make me green with envy of the person who would be able to afford it.

If there is one thing I could actually take from this collection (and not have to use my credit card) it would be the make up. Im a huge fan of minimal make up for summer. None of this smoky eye, glamour puss make up for me, a simple eye with a bright lip is my go too in the summer months. I’ll defintely be rocking this look once the temperature heats up.

I’m always plesantly suprised when I see Victoria Beckham’s designs at Fashion week. For someone who made her name as a Spice Girl and then a WAG her collections are always demure and ladylike. There is something about her collection, the colours, the fabric, the cut. They all scream “let’s join the cast of Mad Men” and celebrate being a female.

Here are a couple of my favourite pieces from her latest runway show.

It’s that time of year again, New York Fashion Week. I always look forward to seeing what comes out of NY fashion week, nothing is overly pretentious and alot of the collections are highly wearable and perfect of an Australian lifestyle.

Two of my lastest favourites come from BCBG Max Azria and Charlotte Ronson. Soft silks and draping from BCBG and 90’s prarie girl from Charlotte Ronson. They are nothing too different from what we are currently seeing, but there is still that freshness that you expect from a new season collection.

Boots, I love them. So perfect for wintery Melbourne streets where puddles seem to collect in the most inconspicuous of places. I’m lusting after these gorgeous thigh high lace up boots by Jill Stuart. Teamed with the gorgeous highland check in emerald and blue this outfit is a match made in heaven.

New York Fashion Week is in full swing and Im finding the collections thus far to be a little uninspiring. Everything looks the same. Maybe its just the frame of mind Im in at the moment, or maybe its just the way things are destined to be (lets hope not!). Anyway, a little breath of fresh air turned up in the fall collection of Alice + Olivia. Here are my favourite pieces from the runway.

I love Rachel Bilson at the moment, she cant put a fashion foot wrong in my book. My how far she has come from those good ol’ OC days.
